Stefanie is a lawyer specialising in human rights, migration, nationality and refugees. She worked as a lawyer with the UK Immigrants’ Advisory Service from 1983 to 1986, and was a partner at Bindmans from 1988 to 1994. She is now a visiting research fellow at the University of Sussex’s Centre for Migration Research.

Stefanie has worked for the United Nations, directing the Research branch of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. She was Amnesty International’s Director of Research in London, and Director of Amnesty’s office in Washington DC.

She has recently undertaken consultancy work for the Global Commission on International Migration, the UN OHCHR, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights and the ILO.
