The voices of asylum seekers are rarely heard in the public debate on immigration. RMJ wants to help bring home the human stories behind the headlines so that there is a more informed debate. Many of our clients have suffered terribly in their country of origin and shown huge courage and resilience in finding their way here. What they need is a swift resolution of their claim for asylum, so that they can start to recover and re-build their lives and contribute positively to life in Britain. But it is often a struggle to achieve a fair hearing because of what the Independent Asylum Commission called “the culture of disbelief,” as the following stories reveal. Good quality legal representation of the type we provide is key.
